Lightweight by design
The HootDM extension is a thin relay — it just carries out actions through your own logged-in session and reports back. All the logic, pacing, and safety rules live on our servers.
Uses your real session
No separate browser profile, no headless automation — it runs alongside your normal LinkedIn login.
Stays up to date automatically
When LinkedIn changes something on their end, we handle it on our side — you're not stuck waiting on a new extension version.
Nothing extra installed
Pacing, quotas, and safety checks are handled by HootDM — the extension just carries out the actions you set up.
Simple by design
A lot of browser-based automation tools ask you to run a separate profile or a headless bot alongside your account — a second identity LinkedIn has to make sense of. HootDM doesn’t do that. The extension works alongside your own logged-in LinkedIn session, the same way your browser already behaves when you’re using LinkedIn normally, and simply carries out the actions you’ve set up in your sequence.
All the thinking — pacing, quotas, safety limits, what to send and when — happens in HootDM itself, not in the extension. That keeps the extension small and means updates on our end don’t require you to reinstall or update anything.
Common questions
Does the extension need to stay open to work?
Yes — since it runs through your own browser session rather than a separate cloud browser, Chrome needs to be open with LinkedIn logged in for actions to execute.
What LinkedIn permissions does the extension need?
Just your normal, already-logged-in LinkedIn session in the browser — nothing separate to authorize.
Will I need to reinstall the extension when LinkedIn changes something?
Generally no — most changes are handled on our end without requiring a new extension version.
